Therapeutic indications

Allergic and inflammatory states of the conjunctiva, accompanied by photophobia, tearing, feeling of foreign bodies.

Contraindications

It should not be used by subjects with closed angle glaucoma or other serious eye diseases. Hypersensitivity to components or to other substances closely related to chemical. It should not be used in children under twelve years. Contemporaneous treatment with inhibitor drugs of monoaminoxydase (see point 4.5).

Population

Instill in the affected eye 1-2 drops, up to 2-3 times a day, according to need. Strictly stick to the recommended doses. A higher dose of the product even if taken in a topical way and for a short period of time can give rise to serious systemic effects. In case of persisting or aggravating symptoms after a short period of treatment consult your doctor. In any case, the product should not be used for more than 4 consecutive days, unless otherwise prescribed, as it may occur side effects.

Conservation

Collirio, bottle 10 ml Store in the original packaging. Valid after first opening: 30 days. Collirio, single-dose container Store at a temperature not exceeding 30° C, in the original packaging. The single-dose container contains no preservatives; for this reason every single-dose container, once opened, must be thrown after use, even if used only in part.

Warnings

The product, while presenting a very low systemic absorption, should be used with caution in patients suffering from hypertension, hyperthyroidism, heart disorders, bronchial asthma and hyperglycemia (diabetes). Infections, pus, foreign bodies in the eye, mechanical, chemical, heat damage, require medical intervention. Keep out of reach and sight of children since accidental ingestion can cause depression of the SNC (sent seat or hypotonia). Since the product, in the bottle 10 ml, contains the benzalconio chloride, during treatment, soft contact lenses should not be worn. Since benzalconio chloride is not present in the monodose packaging, this can be used by contact lens holders, or by those who manifest hypersensitivity to benzalconio chloride.

Interactions

Alpha Antihistamine Collirio should not be used if you are taking inhibitor drugs of monoaminoxydase or if you have passed less than two weeks after the last administration of these medicines since they can arise severe hypertensive crises.

Effects

The use of the product can sometimes determine pupilal dilation, systemic effects from absorption (hypertension, heart disorders, hyperglycemia), increased blood pressure, nausea, headache. Rarely, phenomena of hypersensitivity can occur. In this case it is necessary to stop the treatment and consult the doctor so that, where necessary, suitable therapy can be established. The patient is invited to notify the doctor or pharmacist of any undesirable effects not described.

Overdosing

Strictly stick to the recommended doses. The product, if accidentally ingested or if used for a long period at excessive doses can determine toxic phenomena, especially in children. Accidental ingestion of the drug can cause, especially in children, SNC depression to coma. In these cases immediate medical assistance is always necessary: gastric lavender, sedation with diazepam and general support measures.

In pregnancy and during breastfeeding use only in case of actual need, under the direct control of the doctor.
